Joan Musselbrook

Joan is a credit and structured finance specialist with over 20 years experience, both as a banker and as an investor/underwriter, who has been part of the European CDO market since its beginning over 10 years ago. She joined Reoch Credit in March 2008.

Joan’s previous experience includes five years with MBIA where, up until April 2006, she was a Managing Director responsible for the growing CDO, ABS and synthetics business in Europe. This allowed her to gain first hand experience of many ground-breaking transactions including a wide range of cash and synthetic CDOs, negative basis CDS transactions and synthetic securitisations of bank balance sheet assets including mortgages, middle market loans and commercial real estate. Over the course of many transactions Joan worked with all the leading arrangers and a wide range of CDO managers and issuers and gained deep experience of how to mitigate risk in structure and documentation.

Prior to joining MBIA in 2000, Joan spent 15 years in the NatWest Group including 3 years as a senior member of the Greenwich NatWest securitisation team where she had responsibility for CDOs and securitisation of NatWest’s own assets. Joan started as a credit analyst at NatWest including three years in New York, during which time she was responsible for the bank’s credit training in North America. Currently, Joan is a director of Volta Finance Limited, a company that invests in structured finance assets.

Joan holds a BA from Oxford University.
